SISCO

Sirjan Iranian Steel Company (SISCO), affiliated to Middle East Mines and Mineral Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO) was inaugurated in 11-Jul-2009. The main target of the corporation is to generate added value through activities in the complete steel making chain, from iron ore to semi-finished steel products (billet or bloom).

Knowing the importance of comparative advantages in today’s iron and steel market, the managing team decided to choose two different places for the company operation sites. As the result the iron ore concentrate and pellet producing plants complex located in Gol-e-Gohar area in Sirjan, just a few kilometers from the mines, and the DRI and steel producing plants complex was constructed in Bardsir.

SISCO has been able to run several projects simultaneously and despite starting this business much later than most of its competitors, achieved many of predefined targets including producing high quality products, which made it possible to export Iron Ore Concentrate and Direct Reduced Iron to China, Middle East and recently the European Union.

Anomaly No. 4 of Gol-e-Gohar Iron ore Mines

In March 2016 SISCO could finally win an 18 year contract for preparation, extraction and exploitation of anomaly no. 4 of Gol-e-Gohar iron ore mine in a bid held by Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). That would boost the company confidence in sustainable supply of the raw material for its downstream production lines.

The guaranteed deposit of this anomaly is about 73 million tons which would be extracted within 18 years by implementing conventional open pit mining. The average grade of iron content has been considered 50% in the contract.

Anomaly No. 2 of Gol-e-Gohar Iron ore Mine:

Apart from above mentioned anomaly, SISCO was able to win another bid as a part of a consortium for a total amount of the existing iron ore in the 2nd anomaly of the six known anomalies in the Gol-e-Gohar iron ore mine. This made the company capable of supplying its concentrate plant with iron ore with average iron content of 51 % in a 4 years period.

Anomaly No. 6 of Gol-e-Gohar Iron ore Mine:

Third anomaly which SISCO was able to obtain, as a part of a consortium, is Anomaly No.6 of Gol-e-Gohar iron ore mine. This underground mine is estimated to have a deposit of 76 million tons with average grade of 54%. It is planned to be prepared within five years for a period of 15 years extraction.

Iron Ore Concentrate Plant:

The iron ore Concentrate producing plant with the capacity of 4 million tons per year was constructed in two phases. First of which came to operation in August 2012  and the second phase has started its production in September 2015 Locating close to Gol-e-Gohar mineral zone. This plant profits from easy access to raw material from rich mines in the vicinity of the plant.

Pelletizing Plant:

Next to iron ore concentrate producing plant, the pelletizing plant with the capacity of 2.5 million tons annually was inaugurated in 2016 This making the company capable of supplying its DRI production plant with its own pellet, which used to be procured from other producers. This plant enjoys Straight Travelling Grate (STG) Process to Produce Iron Ore Pellet.

Direct Reduced Iron Producing Plant:

DRI producing plant with the capacity of 1 million tons per year is located 45 km away from Kerman on the way to Bardsir and 185 Km away from Sirjan concentrate and pellet producing plants complex. This production line which came into operation in 2013 uses Midrex technology . Local Iranian manufacturers did a good job on most parts of the reduction furnace and process pumps as well as material handling systems.

Steel Producing Plant:

The steel producing plant with the capacity of 1 million tons per year is locating next to the DRI production plant. The overall progress of this project has been completed in October 2018.

The steel producing plant enjoys a 140 ton Electronic Arc Furnace (EAF) and a Continues Casting Machine (CCM) with 6 stands. Just like other projects in SISCO this factory benefits from a diverse selection of equipment’s suppliers.

Steel making plant is fed with DRI conveyed from DRI production plant using belt conveyor and is directly charged into the EAF with tap to tap of 70 Minutes. The CCM then form the molten steel into billet or bloom to reach the final product of the company.
